Bio:

Camilla Winde Gissel is a PhD Research Fellow at the Center for Research on Extremism. She holds an MSc degree in Cultural Criminology from Lund University, an MA degree in Cross-Cultural Studies from Copenhagen University, and a BA degree from Aarhus University. Her latest thesis focuses on the narrative constructions of woman foreign fighters in the Danish media and political debate and how these constructions are used to argue against their repatriation from Kurdish-controlled camps in Syria.

She is currently working on the VORTEX project studying how different approaches to intervention for (former) violent extremists create important contextual differences in how deradicalization, disengagement, and reintegration are done.
