Bio:

Javid specializes in the social and political contexts of radicalization and is currently a research assistant and Ph.D. fellow at the Faculty of European Studies at Babeș-Bolyai University. His doctoral research focuses on the radicalization of center-right parties, particularly in response to the influence of radical-right parties. By examining coalition formation, competition, and indirect influences, his study aims to understand how these interactions impact the political positioning and policy platforms of center-right parties. Through qualitative case studies, he seeks to uncover the causal mechanisms driving this radicalization.

In addition to his academic work, Javid hosts a podcast with Europe Elects, where he discusses European political developments, especially elections and party dynamics. He is passionate about contributing insights on European party politics, populism, and radical-right movements, and is eager to engage with others in this field. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Baku State University and a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy from Leiden University. Before joining VORTEX, Javid gained experience in various institutional settings, including NGOs, political parties, think tanks, consultancies, and public agencies, as well as holding adjunct positions at several universities.
